Leica M262 Gallery
This is a gallery of personal work shot in and around King Salmon and Naknek, Alaska. I'm using the new digital Leica M262 rangefinder camera and assorted Leica lenses at 21, 35, 50 and 90mm focal lengths (no zooms).
This 'old school' camera consciously offers less than what is technically possible. No auto-focus, manual focus only. Center weighted metering, no fancy algorithms to determine exposure. No electronic finder or single-lens-reflex viewing, just good old fashioned frame lines like 'back in the day'. This camera design hasn't changed much since the late 1950's!
It's been said that a camera body is just a box with a hole in it where the glass goes. The beauty of the final image lies in the quality of the lens...and the sensor. Leica M lenses are hand-made jewels of optical precision, and the full frame 24MP CMOS sensor complements that German glass beautifully.
Shooting with a rangefinder camera is not for everyone. The process is simplified, but also more deliberate. I control all the camera functions and I'm responsible for everything in the frame and how it got there.
Just like back in the day.
